Programme 2019

Below is the programme of events for 2019. Meetings will take place on Tuesdays at 7.30pm at Ashton Hayes Primary School unless otherwise stated: 19th February – Plant hunting in China – In the footsteps of George Forrest – Ted Brabin 19th March – AGM followed by Vegetable growing through the seasons – Mike Cook 16th April – Plant propagation workshop – Susan Nicholas 21st May – Evening visit to Bolesworth Castle, near Tattenhall 18th June – Local garden visit followed by the Social Evening 17th July – Coach trip to Hodnet Hall near Market Drayton – Please note that this is a Wednesday 17th September – My concrete garden – Ray Bailey 15th October – Selecting and caring for house plants – Ann Harrison 19th November – Gardens Galore – Liz Weston 13th December (Friday) – Christmas Party, 7.30pm at the Village Hall – Tickets £5 You can also see all the events, including committee meeting dates, on our Calendar.

Plant Hunters Fairs 2019

The National Memorial Arboretum Croxall Road. Alrewas, Staffordshire, DE13 7AR Sunday 10th March 2019 10am – 4pm FREE ENTRY to plant Fair & Arboretum (charge to park) We will be holding our first fair of the 2019 season here. Entry to the plant fair is free and features many highly respected specialist nurseries with a great range of perennials, shrubs, trees, rare species and old heritage varieties. Simply something for every plant lover. The National Memorial Arboretum is a special place of memorial and inspiration with so much to offer visitors: secluded gardens to explore, a nature reserve and a lovely restaurant. The arboretum and fair are free to enter. There are 150 acres of wooded parkland where visitors can both enjoy and learn about the trees and their surroundings and reflect upon their special symbolism. Many of the memorials are placed in peaceful gardens. Although still a ‘young’ arboretum, in excess of 50,000 trees on the site are rapidly growing into a unique living tribute.
